ABOUTJ&#38;amp;L Gibbons is an established and visionary Landscape Architecture studio based in London. The practice began in 1986 and is renowned for its innovative and holistic design process combining research and an open-minded approach to design. J&#38;amp;L Gibbons has the experience and skill to envisage and communicate the dynamic and specific beauty of each landscape over the long-term. The practice is driven by a desire to safeguard the deep ecologies that shape the character of a place. It is dedicated to key practice priorities of design quality, integrated green infrastructure, promoting natural heritage (especially veteran trees), landscape stewardship and community empowerment through sharing knowledge and experience in the landscape. This is reflected in the studio’s portfolio which is characterised by a scrupulous understanding of both natural processes and community networks.


Our research activities are fundamental to our design practice. Particular strands include anthropogenic soils, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), urban forestry and wellbeing. This is realised through projects in landscape restoration, habitat creation and design with nature, particularly in the urban environment. Publications such as the recent ‘Conversations on Urban Forestry’ aim to elucidate the fertile ground of our cross disciplinary practice. We are a core research partner of Urban Mind with Kings College London and art collective Nomad Projects concerning how city living is affecting well-being. In 2016 we established a unique and innovative Social Enterprise, Landscape Learn, using the seasonality of nature to structure an alternative approach to immersive learning processes. We are dedicated to collaborative practice and upholding the origins of the profession which cross the arts, sciences and humanities.As a founding signatory of UK Landscape Architects Declare Climate &#38;amp; Biodiversity Emergency, J&#38;amp;L Gibbons is serious about its environmental and social responsibilities. Creative Partners Jo and Neil regularly lecture internationally. They champion landscape architecture, with urgency, as a critical discipline in shaping a more resilient, healthy and uplifting vision for the future.

Johanna Gibbons RDIBA (Hons) FLI FRSA FRGS
Founding Partner
Johanna is Founding Partner of J&#38;amp;L Gibbons, Founding Director of social enterprise Landscape Learn and Fellow of the Landscape Institute. Jo was honoured as Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) for her ‘pioneering and influential work combining design with activism, education and professional practice’ and made a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2025 she was elected to the prestigious position of Keeper of the Faculty of Royal Designers, and as the first Landscape Architect in the Faculty’s 90 year history. She is appointed as a Design Advocate to the Mayor of London and is a Research Partner of Kings College London on Urban Mind and related research on extreme heat and mental wellbeing in the urban environment. In 2026 Jo was made Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.Johanna has an international profile having served on the International Scientific Committee for the World Forum on Urban Forests and as a design juror for Europan and the Holcim Foundation, committed to sustainable design. She is widely respected for seamlessly incorporating ecology, urban planning, conservation, community and the arts within her approach, with a rigorous focus on climate change adaptation, social need and building for biodiversity. Her many award-winning, collaborative and innovative designs and engagement strategies, mostly within the public realm, span over four decades of practice, from urban regeneration and estate planning and design, to cemeteries, colleges, cathedrals and museums.

Neil is a
Fellow of the Landscape Institute and Studio Director at J&#38;amp;L Gibbons,
having joined in 1999. He is a Director of the social enterprise Landscape
Learn and a Research Partner of Urban Mind. Neil trained in Landscape
Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. He is a member of several design
review panels and the International Scientific Committee, ‘Masters of Landscape’,
located in Rome. Neil has lectured and worked in Europe and the US and
maintains strong links with education. He lectures on the MA Landscape
Architecture course at the University College London, Bartlett School of
Architecture.


His
expertise includes sub-regional strategic plans, public realm frameworks, public
parks and heritage and cultural landscapes. He is currently partner in charge
of the Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum, the Nature + Love
project for the Horniman Museum &#38;amp; Gardens and Girton College Cambridge.

Sutherland MA CMLI Partner
 
Victoria is
a Chartered Landscape Architect and Partner at J&#38;amp;L Gibbons having joined
the practice in 2012. She graduated with distinction from the Edinburgh College
of Art Landscape Architecture master’s programme in 2011. 
 Her experience ranges
across public parks, urban regeneration, heritage and cultural landscapes.
Projects include the Stirling Prize winning John Morden Centre and nominated
Bushey Cemetery. Vicky has extensive experience working in highly sensitive
landscapes and gardens including the UNESCO World Heritage Palace of
Holyroodhouse Future Programme in Edinburgh for the Royal Collection Trust, the
National Lottery Heritage Funded Pitzhanger Manor &#38;amp; Walpole Park and Marble
Hill Revived for English Heritage in Richmond. She was the project Landscape
Architect for the Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum and is
currently leading two new projects in Cambridge for the University and Girton
College.

Kennedy MSc

Peter is
a Chartered Landscape Architect and Partner at J&#38;amp;L Gibbons having joined
the practice in 2016. After graduating from The University of Edinburgh Landscape
Architecture programme Peter was awarded the Scottish Landscape Institute and
the UK Landscape Institute Student Portfolio prizes in 2016. In 2017 he was
awarded the Best European Masters’ Portfolio by the European Council of
Landscape Architecture Schools. Prior to joining J&#38;amp;L Gibbons Peter worked
in Zurich, Switzerland. His work has been exhibited in
‘Wunderlust/Wanderkammer’ in Switzerland and NYC (2014-2015) and in ‘Remember
With Us’ at Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, Kraków (2016). 


He has
experience across a range of scales in the cultural, heritage and private
residential sectors, including Inger Munch’s Pier at the MUNCH in Oslo, The
Natural History Museum Urban Nature Project and St Albans Cathedral Sumpter
Yard Revived. He is currently project lead on the British Library’s Boston Spa
Renewed Project creating the world’s most sustainable archive, Maggie’s
Maidstone and the Horniman Museum &#38;amp; Gardens Nature + Love project.

ArchitectLanxin is
a Chartered Landscape Architect who joined J&#38;amp;L Gibbons in 2024. She graduated from the Landscape Architecture
and Landscape Heritage master’s programme from the Politecnico di Milano
in 2021.
During her studies, she was awarded the 2020 Student Award by the American
Society of Landscape Architects. Lanxin previously worked in Dublin, Ireland
where she qualified as a corporate member of the Irish Landscape Institute. 


Since
joining J&#38;amp;L Gibbons Lanxin has been working on a range of projects
including Maggie’s Maidstone for a new centre in Kent, the British Library
Piazza at St Pancras, a feasibility study for the rejuvenation of Paddington
Street Gardens, the St Marylebone Parish Church Gardens and a research project
for the Wellcome Trust exploring the relationship between extreme heat and
mental health in collaboration with Kings College London amongst others.

Architect
Tilly is
an associate member of the Landscape Institute joining J&#38;amp;L Gibbons in 2025.
She graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 with a First-Class
degree in History going on to achieve a distinction-grade master’s in Landscape Architecture in 2023. She was awarded the T Bowhill Gibson Scholarship and her
graduating project was part of the University’s submission to the International
Landscape Architecture School Price held at the 12th Barcelona International
Landscape Biennial. Tilly previously worked in Bath prior to moving to London. &#38;nbsp;


Since
joining J&#38;amp;L Gibbons Tilly has been working on Imperial College London’s campus
greening project - Rooted in Horticulture – at their South Kensington Campus,
delivering the first phase in the Beit Quadrangle and the Queen Elizabeth II
National Memorial Landscape competition.

Studio Manager


George joined J&#38;amp;L Gibbons as Studio Manager in 2025. He holds a BA (Hons) in French and German from the University of Bristol. He lived in Berlin and Lyon before studying for an MA in Radio from Goldsmiths, University of London. His postgraduate research focused on the acoustic designer Daphne Oram who pioneered musique concrète at the Radiophonic Workshop. He graduated with a distinction in 2022. Before joining the studio, George was an arts journalist for Monocle. Outside his studio role, he works as a documentary maker. His documentary ‘Harassment Architecture’ for BBC Radio 4 explored the impact of hostile public design on London’s homeless community.George supports the smooth running of the studio, contributing to its collaborative culture, social enterprise, and status in the industry, supporting the team in the delivery of high-profile design in a range of public and cultural settings.

Flea is the Studio Archivist at J&#38;amp;L Gibbons having joined the practice in 2004. Since
joining she gained a Foundation Degree with Distinction in 2007 and a BSc First
Class Honours degree in Understanding London at Birkbeck College University of
London in 2009. Prior to joining J&#38;amp;L Gibbons Flea worked at Andrew Wright
Associates, with Mel Calman at the Cartoon Arts Trust, Maurice Hatton at Mithras
Films and the Literary Agents Goodwin Associates.

Gardens give Natural History Museum title of UK’s most-visited attraction, Financial Times reports  


The Urban Nature Project has led to a 13% increase in visitors to the Natural History Museum, with a UK record total of 7.1 million since it opened. The total number of visitors to the free gardens is unknown, but a new report in the FT puts it above this official figure. Described by museum director Doug Gurr as “effectively two new outdoor galleries,” the gardens have made an outsized contribution to the museum’s recent success. Johanna Gibbons hosts Summer Entanglement with the Royal Designers for Industry


Following the success of the Spring Session, Royal Designers returned to the Pentagram studio for Summer Entanglement discussing different attitudes to growth. This season's speakers were Pentagram Partner Marina Willer RDI, the industrial designer Tom Lloyd RDI and artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg RDI. Johanna Gibbons features in Wellcome Trust urban heat research film  


Jo joined Professor Andrea Mechelli to discuss the findings of our Greener, Cooler, Healthier research platform as part of the Wellcome’s Research in Action series. Jo shared solutions including green space creation on pavements that can have tangible benefits for our mental health and underlined that policy action must be enacted at scale to benefit everyone. Greener, Cooler, Healthier
To coincide with London Climate Action Week we are delighted to launch our platform focusing on the urban forest, tree canopy cover and reducing urban temperatures. Through our research with the Wellcome Trust, Stanford, King’s College London and the London School of Hygiene &#38;amp; Tropical Medicine, J&#38;amp;L Gibbons has identified opportunities to protect mature large canopy trees alongside mapping found locations to plant new trees in London, visually communicating a zone of significant impact on the everyday experience and health of every Londoner. Jo was invited by the Design Museum to be a member of its Future Observatory panel during London Climate Action Week to discuss creative and structural responses to the climate emergency. Jo examined urban rewilding strategies for heat and flood resilience and discussed our collective responsibility to build resilient urban environments that help our cities and communities thrive.

Johanna Gibbons and Neil Davidson deliver keynote speech at the Oskar von Miller Forum 
Jo and Neil jointly delivered the CITY/SOCIETY keynote lecture at the Oskar von Miller Forum in Munich. “Landscape as agency” explored how radical ecological concepts can be embedded in the public realm to address urban nature, social justice, and community care. They also highlighted how landscape architecture can act as an active agent of transformation, regenerating cities through design approaches that place ecology, people, and long-term responsibility at their core.

Johanna Gibbons and Neil Davidson made Fellows of the Royal Geographical Society
The Royal Geographical Society in London announced Jo and Neil as the latest cohort of Fellows. The honour recognises significant contribution to geographical research, fieldwork, teaching, policymaking and public engagement. Fellowship has also been bestowed on Britain’s most influential naturalists including Charles Darwin and Sir David Attenborough.

Royal Designers Entanglement Sessions at Pentagram 


Jo established the Royal Designers Entanglement Sessions, a series of gatherings exploring design practices that work with nature for the benefit of living systems. The inaugural Spring Session hosted by Pentagram was a call out for more thoughtful imagination, joy and reciprocity in how we design and live.             Johanna Gibbons elected Keeper of the Royal Designers for Industry


Following her election by her fellow designers, Jo became the first landscape architect to lead the faculty. “This is a pivotal time for design practice as we face the environmental emergency,” Jo said, “I am excited to work with this extraordinary design community to advocate for deep ecology to be centred in all of our projects and to spotlight design, creativity and ingenuity when we need it most.” As Keeper over the faculty’s 90th anniversary, Jo will guide its mission of championing design excellence and its role in shaping a more beautiful and resilient future.

            Neil Davidson appointed to the jury of the RIBA London Awards 2026 


Neil has been selected for the London regional jury of the national RIBA Awards 2026. &#38;nbsp;He has been across the city to visit the shortlisted schemes in person and experience each project first-hand. Neil will help select projects for RIBA National Awards and a range of Special Awards. Any of them could ultimately win the Stirling Prize, one of the highest honours in UK architecture.

            Mayor of London appoints Johanna Gibbons as Mayor’s Design Advocate 


Jo has been appointed Mayor’s Design Advocate at City Hall. She will play a significant role in the mayor’s “Good Growth” agenda through publications and the London Review Panel. Upon Jo’s appointment, Mayor Sadiq Khan said, “from delivering the high‑quality, affordable homes Londoners need and deserve, to supporting sustainable development and safeguarding design quality in iconic places like Oxford Street, this group will help shape a better London for all.”

            World Soil Day ERDE exhibition and screening &#124;

The collaborative exhibition by sisters Jo Gibbons &#38;amp; Kate Blee put the spotlight on World Soil Day. The exhibition encapsulated the residue of years of research with Wild Olive Artisans in the form of hand crafted small batch perfumes of the soil, Erde &#38;amp; Verda. It drew attention to the complexities of soil dynamics through film and installation, alongside a collection of Kate’s drawing in charcoal and watercolour which continue her work concerned with gravity and friction.

Europan interdisciplinary competitions are held every two years and synchronised throughout Europe, engaging with urgent and threatening situations. They are aimed at the emerging generation of architects, urban and landscape planners under the age of 40, for the development and implementation of forward-looking projects. Jo was invited to launch the competition with a Keynote speech asking how comprehensive care-taking can be integrated into site development, and she was appointed as part of the international jury.

            2nd World Forum on Urban Forests in Washington DC


The conference acted as a call for action - to plan the urban forest as an integrated part of city planning process if greener and more resilient urban environments are to be realised. The resultant WFUF Washington DC Declaration sends out a reminder - that urban forests are multi-functional, and address social and health inequalities. Jo formed part of a panel on inclusive cities to reassert the value of urban forests in making cities a place where people want to live, love and thrive.

            Urban Mind reveals mental health benefit of birdlife


Who hasn’t tuned into the melodic complexities of the dawn chorus? Led by Kings College London in collaboration with J&#38;amp;L Gibbons and Nomad Projects, published in Scientific Reports and reported by The Guardian and the Washington Post among others, the research underpins how much the sight and sound of birdsong lifts the spirits. It captures, through our Urban Mind smartphone app, the first evidence that specifically recognises birdsong as restorative to mental wellbeing - a daily ‘dose’ of nature, that is precious and time-lasting.

            Schiehallion Seed Project &#124; J&#38;amp;L Gibbons are collaborating with the John Muir Trust to restore and connect mountain woodland habitats


A key part of this project is engaging with local schools, offering a great way for young people to feel connected to the work of the Trust, understand the importance of different upland habitats, while playing a practical role in woodland restoration. Contact with nature in cities reduces loneliness
 Between 2018 and 2020 Urban Mind - a collaboration between King’s College London, Nomad Projects and J&#38;amp;L Gibbons - has collected data via the Urban Mind app from 750 UK citizen scientists investigating associations between feelings of loneliness with the social and built environment. Our research showed that feelings of overcrowding increased ‘momentary loneliness’ by 39%; but when people were able to see trees or hear birds, feelings of loneliness fell by 28%. Our research was published in Scientific Reports, and covered in The Guardian, Daily Mail and Treehugger.

        Open House Festival 2020
Commissioned for the Open House Festival 2020, this short film made in conjunction with Dezeen explores the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden. During the pandemic, London rediscovered the immense value of its outdoor public space and Open City celebrated it through a series of bike rides, video tours and outdoor events.         Tangible Territory
Jo was invited to a contribute to the first issue of Tangible Territory, the journal created by Tereza Stehlikova. Tereza is an artist, filmmaker and senior lecturer at the RCA, with whom J&#38;amp;L Gibbons and Landscape Learn have an ongoing collaboration based on overlapping interests. Tangible Territory, Tereza says: ‘is not a real physical location, but a place that lies in the liminal land between the real world and its representation (or evocation) on the screen (…) Hopefully a transformative, living space, where we can meet, interact, grow…’

        The Architecture Gala is the Nordic region's largest meeting place for architecture with international and national speakers.         This series of Fundamentals, chaired by Professor Jeremy Till, discussed the climate change emergency, the most urgent issue facing the planet today in the context of the wider territory of the city. The talks asked if there is to be systemic change, how does that play out spatially.             The David Skinner Memorial Lecture
 Johanna was invited to deliver the annual public Memorial Lecture. She was able to give a personal as well as professional perspective having been one of the early intakes to the course at Edinburgh College of Art where David Skinner was Professor. Jo explained how Skinner’s teachings have influenced the work of her practice over the last 30+ years. Supported by the entire J&#38;amp;L Gibbons team, the studio took the opportunity to follow the lecture with a field trip to ‘Big Tree Country’, Perthshire taking in highlights of The Grand Tour of Scotland.

            50th Anniversary of Ian McHarg's: Design With Nature &#124; A Celebration of Influence and Legacy
 Preeminent Landscape Architect Ian McHarg reshaped the profession with his revolutionary ecological approach to design captured in his seminal book, Design with Nature, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. Jo was invited to help mark this event in McHarg’s home country of Scotland organised by Landscape Institute Scotland.  Held in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP), Jo and Neil were invited to help celebrate the achievements of the profession. Neil spoke about Urban Mind, a research collaboration between Kings College London, Nomad projects and J&#38;amp;L Gibbons. Jo led a walk along the Lea Navigation through Canal Park, one of the three parklands of the QEOP, by lead Landscape Architects J&#38;amp;L Gibbons in collaboration with muf architecture/art, East and Phil Meadowcroft, delivered by LDA.

 The conference addressed the notion of the ideal vision of a city where nature is preserved and a lively living environment is featured, one that is worth living in. Jo talked about the ‘ideal’ being reflected in process collaborative and driven design underpinned by a philosophy of deep ecology, the principle belief that the living environment as a whole should be respected.  The two-day summit in Dubai brought together leading landscape architects and sustainability experts to discuss topics on developing healthy happy cities and improving the quality of life within urban communities. Neil focused on London as a case study for considering cities as a landscape network functioning at multiple scales and interdependencies, through exploring the city as ecosystem.

        Systemic Design in Urbanism
 Systemic design seeks to reintegrate disvalued landscapes into urbanized territories and regional ecologies. Johanna and Neil presented a seminar at the University of Roma Tre talking about action research and the need to interface with natural processes and cultural networks to help sustain life and wellbeing in the city. Jo and Neil also participated in a studio review sharing their knowledge with the students of Landscape Urbanism.

 The conference hosted by University of Naples Federico II, investigated the relation between health, landscape, architecture and city, focusing on the design of open space; starting from the overcoming of the traditional idea of urban park.         Commissioned by J &#38;amp; L Gibbons to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2016. Where do all the earthworms go? There are reminders all around us in the urban landscape, mostly in the form of trees, that we are intricately linked to the soil beneath our feet. Yet we tend to consider it simply as a surface on which we move about. Claudia draws attention to the often ignored and unconsidered sonic world that envelops us. In Where do all the earthworms go? She imagines what a subterranean, soil-based world might sound like: what if we could, like the earthworm, move through soil as we move through air? What new worlds of sensorial experiences might open up to us? Claudia Molitor is a composer/artist whose work draws on traditions of music and sound art but also extends to video, performance and fine art practices. Listen to the piece here.

Urban Nature Project, Natural History Museum
The
Urban Nature Project reimagines the Natural History Museum’s 5-acre gardens to
increase biodiversity, accessibility, scientific research and best practice
outdoor nature-learning all year round. It has been designed as a response to
the urgent need to monitor and record changes to the UK's urban nature and to
develop skills to study in this field, as part of a national drive to re-engage
people with the natural world and urban wildlife. The project transforms an
underused garden into an urban oasis, creating significant new areas of habitat
and biodiversity, re-presenting the grounds as a living laboratory.


 &#38;nbsp;J&#38;amp;L
Gibbons collaborated closely with architects Feilden Fowles on the garden
transformation, supported by a multidisciplinary design team that includes
Gitta Gschwendtner, HRW engineers, and Max Fordham. 


The design
team worked closely with the Museum’s scientists to sensitively develop a
series of outdoor living galleries providing opportunities to learn about and
explore nature. 


In
the east this includes the new Evolution Garden,
a journey from deep time to modern day. Where visitors can learn about 2.7
billion years of history of our planet, told through the immersive timeline of
plants, rocks of different geological periods from across the UK, and
representations of reptiles, birds, dinosaurs and mammals.


In the
west these include Nature Discovery Garden supported by the Cadogan Charity
which extends and enhances woodland, grassland, wetlands, and explores approaches
to climate adaptation set within an urban forest of the future. Integrated into
the landscape are two new buildings: the Nature Activity Centre, supported by
Amazon Web Services, and the Garden Kitchen. 


The Urban Nature Project represents an inspirational case
study for repurposing urban spaces to increase biodiversity and provide urban
cooling, offering recreational and wellbeing benefits and enabling scientific
research to inspire people and in particular young people, to develop a love
for nature and become the naturalists of the future.

Inger Munch’s Pier, Munch Museum
Inger Munch’s Pier is a collaboration between J&#38;amp;L Gibbons and British Artist Tracey Emin. In 2018, Oslo’s Agency for Cultural Affairs ran an international competition to create the landscape setting for ‘The Mother’, against the backdrop of the new Munch Museum and the cityscape of Bjørvika. The monumental 9m bronze sculpture and the Pier create an extraordinary landmark for the Oslo’s waterfront. A transformative space, connecting new waterside communities, invigorating urban, cultural and natural regeneration. Where once industry dominated, there are now flourishing public spaces: swimming spots, boardwalks, fishing areas, places to sit,&#38;nbsp;biodiverse ecologies&#38;nbsp;and&#38;nbsp;an oasis for bees. A place for life, nature and art.&#38;nbsp;The meadow has been advanced procured from local provenance seed, and is defined by recycled blue limestone to mirror the natural geology of the Oslofjord.

Nature + Love Project
Horniman Museum &#38;amp; Gardens&#38;nbsp;

Nature + Love is a transformational re-development
project seeking to make the Horniman Museum and Gardens more inclusive and
accessible, with environmental sustainability and a commitment to fighting the
climate and biodiversity emergencies at its heart.


Three distinct interventions utilising previously under-used areas of the Horniman site are proposed to
enhance the user experience: a Nature Explorers Adventure Zone, opening access to the historic Nature
Trail and introducing a nature-themed recreation area and children’s café, encouraging

Imperial College London: Beit Quadrangle


‘Rooted in Horticulture’ is a campus-wide initiative developed in collaboration with Imperial College London to champion climate adaption, sustainable resource management, and ecological enrichment, whilst re-establishing a vital connection to Imperial’s roots in the horticultural, cultural, and technological heartland of 19th century ‘Albertopolis’ (1861-1886).


Beit Quadrangle is the first step of this exciting initiative. Delivered with care, excellent craft, and skill, the project showcases retrofit and repurposing materials in innovative ways to improve porosity, biodiversity, and functionality. It concerns sense of place, sense of belonging, and a sense of wellbeing through addressing climate change, the biodiversity crises, and how the campus is nurtured as an ecosystem. It has been a crucial part of a student-led campaign in conjunction with Imperial’s cross-campus campaign, Great Environment. Camille Boutrolle, President of Imperial College Union (ICU) has said, “The Beit garden was central to my green agenda as students’ union President, using Beit as an exemplar in hopes that the rest of Imperial campuses follow suit! I am very proud as this project signifies a big achievement in my green spaces campaign”.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse, Future Programme&#38;nbsp;


In 2016, The Royal Collection Trust embarked on an ambitious ‘Future Programme’ concerning the quality of the visitor experience through the creation of a new welcome sequence, a publicly accessible educational Physic Garden and an Education Centre. The garden spaces draw upon the rich archaeology and heritage of the site. The project reconnects the Palace with the City; enhances the public realm, transforms the setting of the Palace buildings and forecourt and creates welcoming thresholds while celebrating and reinterpreting the unique landscape history. New gardens are defined in three distinct areas, each representing a fascinating phase in the Palace’s 900-year history. Firstly, a flowering meadow of medicinal plants evokes the 12th century monastic gardens of Holyrood Abbey. Secondly, a field of flowering bulbs planted in patterns to reflect the design of 16th century gardens. Thirdly, a reimagined Physic Garden that was established in the Palace grounds 350 years ago and went on to become Scotland’s first botanic garden.
