J & L Gibbons were part of the masterplanning team for Canning Town and Custom House led by Erik Van Egeraat Architects.

Canning Town is one of the most important regeneration opportunities within east London. The masterplan identified key development sites through a careful restructuring of the urban grain underpinned by a new landscape framework and the provision of a rich and varied residential and commercial typologies. New linkages to improve Canning Town as a place to walk and cycle were also key to the proposals.

One of the first phases of development is the area opposite Canning Town Station, which will include new public spaces for Rathbone Market and 'Peacock Square.' These new spaces will link the station to the shops on Barking Road helping to resolve issues of pedestrian and cyclist circulation created by the A13.
